裁縫セットを使って、さまざまな縫い方の練習をしています。裁縫実習も、今回で３回目。何度も繰り返すうちに、玉止めや玉結びにも慣れてきた様子です。

ナップサック作りに向けて、今日は基本の縫い方である「並縫い」と「本返し縫い」の２種類の縫い方を練習しました。並縫いは、あっという間にコツをつかみ、多くの５年生がスイスイと縫い上げていきました。

本返し縫いは、複雑な針の運び方をしますが、練習布にある手順を確認しながら、慎重に縫い進めることができました。

Today, each student had a chance to speak by presenting their one sentence using “I’d like to…” and they all did a great job! We continued to build on previous language learned by starting the class with questions that they have learned in the past two weeks. We then moved on to more polite English forms; this time in the context of ordering food at a restaurant. We looked at the phrases “May I have … please?” and “Could I also have … please?”

The students will research American BBQ and present their orders next week.
