【焼きいもパーティ】

お芋を収穫してから、1ヶ月になります。

そろそろ食べ頃ということで、今日は2年生で「焼きいもパーティ」を開催しました。

焼きいも作りは、自分でおイモを切る所からスタートしました。

初めて包丁を使う児童もいたようで、固いサツマイモを切るのに苦戦しました。

今回は色々な種類のサツマイモを植えていました。

紫が鮮やかな「パープルスイートロード」、オレンジ色の「安納芋」、オーソドックスな「紅はるか」。

オレンジや、紫色は初めて見る色のサツマイモだったようで、どんな味がするのかワクワクした様子でした。

「良いにおいがする～」と煙に顔を突っ込んで、においをかいでいました。

給食前だったこともあり、焼いて１分もしないうちに「もう食べられるんじゃない！？」という声も上がりました。

焼けたお芋は、校長先生やお芋のお世話を手伝っていただいた先生方にもお裾分けし、みんなでおいしくいただきました。

残りのおイモは、給食に出していただく予定です。

そちらも楽しみですね。

Again, warm up began asking children if certain jokes were funny, even if their favorite comedian told them. The children all knew correct humor from bad humor. Is a blind person funny? Is a person in a wheelchair funny? The sincerity of the children’s faces mirrored their strong refusals. They understood not to joke about someone just because they looked different or had a disability. My experience today left me feeling very disappointed, but after hearing the children’s empathy and in some cases outrage. My faith was renewed. 

Story: Walking Through the Jungle. The children chanted the story and loved the animal illustrations. A wolf lives in the mountains. We howled like a wolf together! The world map and animal search proved just as exciting. "How many bears do you see?" "I see 4 bears!" "No, I see 5 bears!" "Does Japan have polar bears?" "No, we don’t!"
